James Patterson retuns with his newest in the Maximum Ride series, young adult fiction that features genetically enhanced teenagers that have unique abilities. Maxium Ride is the leader of the flock, she is part bird, can fly and she must protect her flock against forces that want to harness their powers for evil. They also manage to save the world and protect the human race.
In the Final Warning the kids are in Antarctica helping scientists conquer Global Warming and trying to remain safe from their evil enemies. As in Mr. Patterson's other novels, the plotting is first rate and the pace is fast and thrilling. The super hero flock are also nice kids and they make excellent role models for young readers. This is a fine series for young adults, one of two by Mr. Patterson and I applaud his entry into this sub genre and hope for many more and by the way adults will enjoy these novels also.
